MARQUÊS

  • Built in 1910, this family home is located at the Praça do Marquês, a beautiful piazza in Porto-Portugal. By 2015 the house was in ruins but preserved some features that define its charisma, such as the trompe-l'oeil murals and stuccos.

The intervention restored and replicated those features, followed the palette of the Estremoz marble and lioz stone of the murals, while introducing the equipment and structures that favor comfort and thermal efficiency. The house is oriented East-West and the living areas were redesigned to have full light all day long. So, the kitchen and the restrooms located traditionally at the back, were moved into the interior of the building and the new back façade has large windows over the garden.
